Like the show this is a short one after having reviewed this fabulous live band for last week here. Every word of that review is true and is only reinforced after seeing this small club show in suburban Kingston.
This is the perfect setting for this band. Up close and personal and so I was not going to miss this chance given they are now playing 5000 person sized rooms now.
This was a real smash and grab show, forty minutes of killer no filler with a smattering of classics thrown in along with a couple of new ones and it’s nice see that on top of their core catalogue of a dozen or so absolute bangers some of the new tracks especially ‘Modern Girl’ will be added to their live rota for years to come.
The intimate setting allowed for some great interaction with the crowd and after serenading Zem the saxophonist whose birthday it was a chocolate cake was handed around the crowd.
Antonoff was his usual energetic self and without a vast stage to prowl he compensated by climbing up the rig to the side of the stage to orchestrate the singalong.
Chalk this as another live masterclass from a tight band and arguably one of if not the best live act currently touring.
Keep on New Jersey rockin’ y’all
