We have a date 21st June for normality we hope and the end of socially distancing at a gig. That means another ten or so gigs that will either be cancelled or postponed some for the third time. So cautious optimism is the watch word here. Given that the summer months are usually a little quieter the autumn could be crazy for gigs if things get back to normal. So with everything crossed let’s hope there is real light at the end of this horribly long tunnel.
When I first started this little exercise we were a month into lockdown on the 24th April. Like most of you I expected this to last a month or two. The reality now is clear and sadly it will be a full twelve months and probably a lot more between my last gig and the next one. We go again and hopefully this brings back memories for my gig going chums who have joined me on this great musical journey down the years.
Just the one and it’s a classic from The Cult from way back today for my look back down memory lane.

It’s the three amigos tonight hoping for a full on rock show. Guess what, that’s exactly what we got. This was the ‘Electric’ tour which was a more full on traditional balls out rock record which maybe lacked some of the subtlety (it’s all relative) of their classic ‘Love’.
I can’t pick a highlight as it was great all the way through. Heavy rock was my first original music love after my dad had given me the grounding in The Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Elvis, Chuck Berry and The Move. Metal and hard rock dominated my listening habits throughout the eighties and I still think you can’t beat a quality guitar led rock show for a pure adrenalin rush and just a smile inducing enjoyable evening. Whilst that genre is certainly on the wane we still have gems like Pearl Jam, Rival Sons, Rage, Neil Young and others who can still rock my world.
But for tonight it’s the Cult and I can’t fault it. They are like the musical version of the movie ‘Speed’ a relentless juggernaut with the brakes cut careering through one rock out to the next.
God I miss live music.
That’s it for today so don’t forget, support your small local venues and smaller artists in these difficult times, stay safe and keep on rockin y’all.
