The opening track tells you everything you need to know about this band. Heavy beat and solid rhythm, a dash of harmonica and a large dollop of dirty guitar blues. Sounding like a proper southern rock band that flies against their LA roots these three guys can really rock. And much needed that is too with so many reports of the death of guitar rock which is in danger of becoming a niche genre. Thank the lord for bands like TRC, Cadillac Three, Whiskey Myers, Left Lane Cruiser et all who all rock like the proverbial ba$tard.
And rock they did tonight. The heat and energy on the stage is palpable especially with lead guitarist and singer Chris Vos who at one stage I thought was stood under a leaking water pipe such was the sweat dripping from his cap.
We are treated to the myriad of blues and rock styles from this excellent band tonight, slow and scuzzy, delta, southern rock, electric slide and a touch of acoustic blues. They can throw their hand to all styles. Add to this hook laden songs and you have the perfect recipe for a great night of music.
I was anxious about the size of the crowd before I turned up as I wasn’t aware of their following here but there was a good turnout and a knowledgeable crowd who sang along on a good number of the songs.
On a night of consistently good songs I picked ‘On the Move’ and ‘Make it Happen’ as highlights for me. Can’t wait for these guys to come back next year and I will definitely be bringing along a bigger crew for that one.
Until the next time keep on rockin y’all
