So its gig three of five in a crazy busy seven days for me to round off October. Tonight’s its Bonny Doon. When they are not ably supporting Waxahatchee these guys are a very fine band in their own right.
Specialising in twin guitar indie rock and three part harmonies its an expanded five piece setup tonight.
They are over in here in support of their mighty fine new album ‘Let There Be Music’ for what is their first ever London show.
It’s a sold out show and has been for some time and there’s a good atmosphere as the band share some banter with the crowd eschewing the delights of Leeds. But it’s the music we are here to see and listen to and they produce a wonderful eighty minutes of catchy tunes, guitar breaks, harmonies, quirky drum fills and organ to boot.
Lead vocals are shared between songwriters Bill Lennox and Bobby Colombo who have very contrasting voices creating some light and shade for each song with the other members of the band providing backing vocals throughout.
The new songs sound excellent especially ‘San Francsico’ and set closer ‘Lets there be Music’ to round off a thoroughly enjoyable night of indie pop.
Keep on rockin y’all
