So it’s back to my regular part of London it seems at the moment in King Cross. Tonight’s venue is the relatively new Lafayette with Blondshell, aka Sabrina Teitelbaum, as the headline act.
They are over here promoting the deluxe version of her excellent eponymous debut album and is joined on stage with the classic three piece backup of drums, bass and guitar. Before I go on a word for the band. I thought they were excellent, not putting a foot wrong from the driving rhythm of the bass and drums to the understated lead guitarist providing the perfect foil for Teitelbaum’s voice.
The show itself was a short sharp rock show delivered with a base of sass and attitude as they prowl around the stage and letting rip that voice whose range surprised me a little.
Like the show, this review is short and sweet as it was a very good show and highlights for me included ‘Kiss City’ and the Fleetwood Macesque ‘Joiner’.
It’s over in a blink of the eye and I’m humming many of the tunes on the way back home.
Definitely one to watch if the debut can be followed up.
Keep on rockin’ y’all
