Looking back it’s been eight years since we saw Tim and chums on the ‘Heal’ tour for a tiny emotional, sweaty, superb show at the Lexington where after the show Tim came into the crowd and gave us all a hug. That night I was joined by the Burgess Brothers and the same trio is in the house tonight.
No hugs tonight but that doesn’t diminish from the emotions or enjoyment of the gig. I don’t think there is another performer on the planet who enjoys themselves more than Tim or ‘Beaver’ to his friends. There is a constant smile on his face and he is clearly genuinely grateful to be out there for us.
Props tonight to the band who are excellent with a strong rhythm section providing the perfect base to drive the music on. Special mention to Jim on the lead guitar. He’s apparently only twenty five but wow what a talent. It’s not just a loud thrash but the perfect foil to Tim’s rhythm guitar. Don’t get me wrong he can really shred when he needs to too.
The set tonight is a nice blend of tracks from across new album ‘In Heaven’, ‘Eraserland’ and ‘Heal’ and sadly it’s all over far too quickly. Impossible to pick a highlight on a consistently great show but the solo version of ‘Shut in’ was special.
So yet again Strand of Oaks deliver a great rock and roll shows full of fine songs, impeccably performed in front of a fully engaged appreciate crowd. I can’t wait for the next time.
Keep on rockin’ y’all.
