The usual suspects of the London Americana scene are in the audience with Pete Bruntnell, Alan Tyler and James Walbourne visible.
It’s just one man, a guitar and a harmonica and sometimes that’s all you need. Lee has just released his debut album of great songs from the heart of America full of stories and supported by a fine band and especially pedal steel guitar. His voice is reminiscent of Danny George Wilson of Grand Drive and Danny and the Champions of the World fame.
Its simple stuff, moving in places and none more so than on my personal favourite Queen of Carolina. The between song banter is good and the rapport with the crowd is evident and he competes his 45 minute set.
A fine evening with just a man and his guitar which is the purest sound you can get. Perfect.
