The Deslondes are probably described as a country roots band hailing from New Orleans. However they are described they are a fine band of musicians and singers providing great harmonies overlaid on a solid country footing.
Most of the band take on lead vocals at any one time as they rattle though assorted tracks from their two fine albums and a few covers thrown in for good measure. The crowd are enthusiastic and there is plenty of dancing to the up tempo tunes and a respectful hush to the slower numbers.
No tune outstays its welcome as most songs are short and sweet buts it’s certainly the faster rockier songs that really hit the spot tonight especially ‘Hurricane Shakedown’ from the latest album.
Eighty minutes later it’s all over in a blur and it’s nothing short of a miracle that they can fit nearly twenty songs into such a short space of time. A great night of the finest rootsy, bluesy, country folk you can hear.
Keep on rockin' y'all
