Thursday 6th August. West End Centre Aldershot. Alvin Youngblood Hart. A new venue for us tonight in Aldershot. It’s been about twelve years since we last saw Alvin and that was an infamous gig at the Borderline when he was touring with his three piece electric band. It was a fantastic electric blues gig that upset some of the man’s fans who were expecting a low key acoustic set.
In a room that resembles a school hall we take our seats, sit back and enjoy the next couple of hours of great music, interspersed with great stories and anecdotes especially the one about Robert Plant stealing all of the songs he wanted to perform at a recent Leadbelly tribute concert.
France Blues is an obvious highlight for me and it’s a good mix of songs from Alvin’s back catalogue with a bunch of covers thrown in for good measure.
A good night and we mustn’t leave it this long before we see Alvin again
