It took a couple of songs for the sound to level out and the vocals to come to the front and the set picks something from ten of their albums with heavy emphasis on the new album and “I and love and you” and “Emotionalism”.
The evening is an eclectic mix of musical styles, pacing, band configurations, electric, acoustic and every combination in between. A talented set of musicians and multi instrumentalists who can clearly turn their collective hands to anything even starting the show with the funky kazoo led “D Bag Rag”.
The brothers alternate lead vocals swapping acoustic guitar, for banjo, piano and electric guitars throughout the night. The up tempo rockier numbers had the whole crowd clapping and singing but these were ably complemented by a softer side especially on the poignantly moving hushed solo Scott number “Murder in the City”
But it’s “Kick Drum Heart” that nearly brings the recently restored roof back down. A full on speed clap along metal wig out that ends with Scott and Seth in the audience with the latter down on his knees going the full ’Hendrix’ guitar solo. Set ends with a stunning version of “I and love and you” and as a collective in the room tonight we do.
A great band still on top form live and fantastic entertainment for over two hours
Keep on rockin y’all.
