Hot off the heels of episode #1 comes #2. Eli Paperboy Reed, Village Underground 28th April 2014. A Monday night in Shoreditch, new venue never visited before (there can't be many of those left in London now) and a tube strike means a rare bus journey. I've seen the 'Paperboy' several times before and he never fails to deliver good old fashioned rock n roll. The usual tight band this time with hor...ns and plenty of good tunes to boogie to. He has a new album out and a good chunk of the 90 minute set showcases these songs. All get well received and audience participation is good but the loudest sing-alongs were saved for the old stuff. Its high energy and I defy anyone not to have a good time at a 'Paperboy' show. He's something off a throwback to the sixties when I guess there were plenty of rock n roll bands like this around but there's no sell by date for good music. Venue was OK being situated in an railway tunnel. One comment on merchandise. £15 for a CD come on seriously. £9 on amazon. All in all a great night out and the second of ten gigs currently planned in the next four weeks.
