Haling for Missouri via New York and Texts Nash is a man born out of time. Imagine seventies Laurel Canyon hanging with Joni, Crosby, Jackson and the rest of the gang when in comes Nash (not Graham) and starts playing and singing like Neil Young.
Touring in support of his latest excellent album Silver Seasons the set also takes tracks from the two previous albums. Nash is supported by a brilliant guitarist, bearing a resemblance to Ryan Bingham, who also provides harmonies on many of the songs. The rhythm section then supplemented by a fine pedal steel player who rounds off the whole psychedelic rock sound.
Each song starts slowly and builds throughout to a storming crescendo with elongated jams between the players. Low on stage presence but high on musicianship the set rattles by as does the echo curtain half way down the venue that provides an annoying accompanying buzz all night.
Highlights for me are ‘Just like Water’ and set closer ‘Rain Plans’ but the new album’s tracks also stand up very well.
An entertaining evening slightly marred by sound issues in the hall.
